Fortnite v22.20 Fortnitemares Update: Full Patch Notes Detailed
Epic Games has released their Fortnitemares update just in time for the Halloween season.
Fortnite's long awaited Fortnitemares update is here, bringing a number of spooky offerings to the island for 2022. This event brings in some special quests for players to get stuck into, new werewolf abilities, and more. Of course, along with all the new additions comes a few major bug fixes to help keep everything in working order.

Alteration Altars & Wolfscent Ability
Head over to the Reality Tree and look for Alteration Altars. Here, you’ll be given the option to perform the Ritual Emote. Once the ritual is complete, you’ll be bestowed the Howler Claws opening up some supernatural canine abilities.
With the Howler Claws equipped, howl to activate the Wolfscent Ability, giving you a tracking vision that repeatedly puts a mark on enemies in a nearby radius. Players can also perform a four-combo melee attack with the Slash ability and a double-jump Air Slash.
Zero Build Horde Rush
Horde Rush is back with a Zero Build mode. Take down hordes of monsters, collect multipliers, survive at different locations, and take down the Final Boss without the aid of building.
Fortnitemares Quests
Perform the Alteration Altar ritual, visit Grim Gables, and use unvaulted items like Candy and the Pumpkin Launcher to Complete Fortnitemares Quests an earn XP. Two Fortnitemares Quests will available daily over the course of 14 days. Completing five to unlock the Everything's End Glider. Complete 13 to unlock the Chrome Cage Back Bling. Completing 25 unlocks the Unmaker Pickaxe.
The Quests will be available to complete until Fortnitemares ends on Nov. 1 at 2 a.m. ET.
Grim Gables
A new foe is lurking at Grim Gables house. Defeat him to obtain his Mythic weapon.
Fright and Delight Row
Epic Games challenged creators to design islands about frights, delights, or both. Check out the Fright and Delight row in Discover during Fortnitemares 2022 to browse map submissions.
Custom Diagonals Keyboard Movement
In v22.20, a “Custom Diagonals Keyboard Movement” setting has been added to the Mouse and Keyboard settings tab. With this new setting, players can adjust the diagonal movement of their character to a preferred angle of movement.
To enable the setting, go to the Mouse and Keyboard tab and toggle “Use Custom Diagonals” to “On.” Then, adjust the “Forward Diagonal Angle” and “Backward Diagonal Angle” to your preferred movement angle.
Competitive Notes
- With the exception of map changes, the Fortnitemares changes are not included in competitive playlists.
Major Bug Fixes
- Reboot Cards no longer sink if the player was eliminated in water.
- Players are again able to see the progress of their EvoChrome weapon evolutions in competitive playlists.
- Moving the right stick on controller no longer unintentionally navigates menus.
- Fixed an issue on mobile causing water to appear as if it was floating above the ground.
