With the release of Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut, a new Rivals mode has been added to the game.

In October last year, Sucker Punch Productions launched Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, an online mulitplayer add-on that expanded the main game. Players choose between one of four classes, Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin, and can play through either Story Mode or Survival Mode with other online players. Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is a free add-on for players who purchase any version of Ghost of Tsushima, with plans to release it as a stand-alone game later this year.

Coinciding with the release of Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut, a new mode, called Rivals, is being added to Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.

Ghost of Tsushima Rivals Mode: What You Need to Know

In Rivals, two teams of two will compete against one another to defeat waves of enemies. Each defeated foe drops Magatama, which players can collect and spend to improve their assault on the opposing teams. Magatama can be spent on Shades to block your opponents' purchases, various Curses, Hwatch fire and much more. Once players have spent enough Magatama, they will unlock Final Stand waves. Complete these before the other team to win.

Ghost of Tsushima Rivals Mode Release Date

It's important to note that Rivals mode won't be availble immediately with the release of Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut. The new mode will be available Sept. 3 and will be free for players who have bought any version of Ghost of Tsushima. From Sept 10, and in each week up until Oct. 1, new content will be added to Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, including an additional map for Rivals mode.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut is availble now on Playstation 4 and Playstation 5.
