A gameplay trailer for Gamefall, the third-person looter-slasher developed by Counterplay Games and published by Gearbox Publishing, leaked to Reddit on Tuesday.

The trailer shows off several in-game environments, from a floating, snow-covered city to an idyllic grove, before playing scenes of combat between players and monsters. The combat is effects-laden, but shows little in the way of a HUD beyond indicators of from where the next attack will come.

The original Reddit post containing the video describes the trailer as a "Full Internal Early 2019 Teaser," indicating the game may have progressed and changed since its capture.

Gearbox Publishing has yet to respond to the trailer's appearance online. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Gearbox Publishing announced Godfall at The Game Awards in December. It is set to release alongside the PlayStation 5 in late 2020 as a launch exclusive. Both are expected to see release during the holiday season in 2020.

Gearbox Publishing most recently published Trover Saves the Universe and Risk of Rain 2. Counterplay Games released a collectible card game and tabletop strategy game titled Duelyst in 2016.

Update: the Godfall Twitter account confirmed the trailer's legitimacy Tuesday afternoon.

"Hey everyone!" reads the statement. "We can confirm that the circulating trailer is year-old PC footage used as part of an internal presentation. We are energized by your excitement and look forward to showing you just how far this game has come. Stay tuned for a more detailed look soon!"
