GRID Legends Announced During EA Play Live 2021
As suggested by the upcoming game's name, Codemasters' latest project aims to break onto the virtual racing track with a simple enticing question—what does it take to become a racing legend?
GRID Legends remains in development to be a "high-stakes" driving experience that combines "thrilling unpredictable motorsport," "incredible race variety" and an "immersive driving story" that puts players at the heart of the action.
As eluded to before, GRID Legends will heavily focus on its extended reality production, utilizing the same virtual set tech used in The Mandalorian on Disney+, while also boasting a "world-class" cast headlined by Rwandan-Scottish actor Ncuti Gatwa.
The upcoming title is also set to include Codemasters' largest car roster ever for players to race, upgrade and customize from, from classic tourers, to single-seaters and big rigs.
There will be over 130 routes for players to race on from day one, including real-life circuits like Brands Hatch and Indianapolis, historic GRID venues, and new locations such as London and Strada Alpina.
Lastly, GRID Legends invites players to create their ultimate racing events, from dream drift runs to multi-class Eliminator races and electric car events with boost gates. Players can choose their preferred conditions, time of day and more, then head online to challenge other drivers in their perfected playlist, or to browse the custom events of others.
GRID Legends is scheduled to launch in 2022 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC (via Origin and Steam).
