Anyone dropping into a game right now might be wondering: Has Fortnite removed building?

Fortnite's Chapter 3: Season 2 has finally dropped. Players are once again getting the first taste of a variety of new content, weapons, and, of course, a new Battle Pass. This Season sees players joining up with the Resistance against their battle against the IO. POIs will be occupied, new movements will be utilized, all while continuing your struggle for a Victory Royale.

However, one surprising change certainly hasn't gone unnoticed by Fortnite fans.

Has Fortnite Removed Building in Chapter 3: Season 2?

For Chapter 3: Season 2, Epic Games has removed a core feature of Fortnite games - building. Yes, that's right. Players will no longer be able to build structures in order to set up a temporary defence against their opponents.

It's a surprising move - one that players never thought would be on the table. This doesn't mean players will be completely devoid of cover, however. Instead, a new Overshield is in play on top of the regular Health and Shield. Any hits players take will come out of their Overshield first, until it reaches zero. After that, damage will come out of your regular Shield and Health bars.

What's special about the Overshield is that it recovers over time. Though without any structures to build, players will need to utilize the surrounding environment in order to take cover and buy themselves some breathing space.

Fortnite Chapter 3: Season 2 is out now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, macOS, and Android devices.
