Has Teleport Been Nerfed in League of Legends?

In League of Legends PBE, players may have noticed that the summoner spell Teleport could be getting nerfed. For now, the spell remains the same in preseason 2022, but there is a chance that Teleport may look different in season 12.

Teleport is typically carried by top and/or mid laners. It allows a champion to quickly teleport to an ally structure or minion. This also includes: Vision Wards, Sight Wards, Jarvan IV's flags, Teemo's Noxious Traps, Shaco's Jack-in-Box, Annie's Tibbers and more.

Having Teleport on the team is important, as this can change the outcome of a teamfight, allow the team to push bot lane or get a champion to lane before an enemy pushes lane too far.

Has Teleport Been Nerfed in League of Legends?

In PBE, League of Legend players noticed that Riot Games had given Teleport a new description, nerfing the summoner spell. The description in PBE reads, "After channeling for four seconds, teleports your champion to target allied structure. Upgrades to Unleashed Teleport at 14 minutes." (Italics ours.)

This would mean that for the first 14 minutes of the game, players with Teleport will be limited to only teleporting to towers in lane. The "Unleashed Teleport" that unlocks seems to be when players will have the freedom to teleport to allied minions, wards, traps — essentially what players know as Teleport right now.

If this nerfed Teleport is brought into the game, players can expect big changes to League of Legends. By restricting players to only use Teleport on towers in the first 14 minutes of the game, we can expect fewer teamfights early game, less lane push and even a slower start to the game.
