Niantic Labs has announced the Pokemon set to be featured in February's Pokemon GO Community Day event will be the grass and flying-type, Hoppip.

The announcement was made earlier today, Monday, Jan. 24, on both the verified Pokemon GO Twitter account and on the corresponding news blog.

Also called the "Cottonweed" Pokemon, Hoppip is a member of Generation II and makes its home in the Johto region. It is best known for its ability to drift along with the wind. Should a particularly strong wind come along, it links leaves with others of its species to prevent them from being blown away. Its PokeDex number is #187.

Trainers can prompt their Hoppip to evolve into a Skiploom and then Jumpluff using 25 and 100 candies, respectively.

Pokemon GO February Community Day Details

February Community Day will take place on Saturday, Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., local time.

During this time, Hoppip will be taking over the wild as both its normal and shiny variant—the latter of which will be making its debut. Shiny Hoppip is easy to tell apart from its normal counterpart as its color palette is entirely green.

Trainers who obtain enough Hoppip candies to evolve it into Skiploom and then Jumpluff will guarantee themselves a Jumpluff with the charged move Acrobatics. This move does 110 damage in Trainer Battles and 100 damage in Gym Conquests and Raids.

Additionally, the following bonuses will be active for the duration of the event:

  • Triple Stardust
  • Three-hour Lures
  • Three-hour Incense
  • Snapshot "surprises"
  • Access to up to three extra Raid Passes from Gyms during and two hours following the event
  • Bonus XL Hoppip candy from Pokemon caught in Parks
  • Skiploom may appear alongside its pre-evolved form, Hoppip, in Parks

Event-themed stickers will be dropping from PokeStops.

Trainers can pay $1 for access to the special Community Day research line "A Hop, Skip, and Jump Away!" Tickets are set to go live as the event approaches.

The following bundles will be available in the in-game shop:

  • 30 Ultra Balls (Free)
  • 50 Ultra Balls, two (2) Super Incubators, six (6) Star Pieces, and one (1) Elite Fast TM (1280 PokeCoins)
