How Does the Apex Legends Crossplay Beta Work?
By Joe Melillo

How does the Apex Legends crossplay beta work? It's quite simple, actually. Respawn Entertainment will be testing a new feature that allows you to engage with other players on different platforms.
The crossplay beta will allow you to join parties with players from other platforms as well as encounter them in the game's matchmaking systems. This has been a source of some controversy, as skilled players who use a mouse and keyboard often have an advantage over players who use a controller. Additionally, your average gaming PC will run most games at a higher framerate and with less latency than a console.
In the event that you do not want to participate in crossplay, you have the option to disable it and only compete with players on the same platform as you. This feature should clear up any real controversy that exists over the matter.
You may be down, but you're not out! ?

Getting into the Apex Legends crossplay beta is very simple. The program will roll out on Oct. 6 in an update. You will be automatically enrolled in the beta unless you decide to opt-out in the settings menu. While players have the option to opt-out, Respawn Entertainment has warned that this may drastically increase queue times.
