Prior to its release, God of War Ragnarök was rumored to be around 40 hours. So, now that it's been officially released--how long is the game?

In a YouTube video, God of War Ragnarök's Lead Designer and Director, David Jaffe, alluded to the idea that to 100% complete the game, players would need to invest nearly eight additional hours to the original 40 hours for sidequests and collectibles. Shortly after the game's release, the additional factor of the game's varying levels of difficulty also became a significant aspect of calculating playtime.

How Long is God of War Ragnarök?

The answer may vary depending on difficulty, how much time is spent on sidequests, and how much time is spent on exploring. Several players have reported that focusing solely on the main storyline and nothing else led to a playtime of around 25-30 hours. However, players who decide to complete sidequests or who are struggling with specific battles or areas have noted that their playtimes have been anywhere between 40-60 hours.

Ultimately, if you're looking for an estimate of how long God of War Ragnarök will take, completing only the main story will likely require the least amount of playtime. If you want to complete sidequests, get trophies, or attempt a higher difficulty, expect several more hours in addition to that.
