How Many People Play Call of Duty?
The most recent Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare, arrived Oct. 24, 2019. In the first 50 days of its release, players played more than 500 million multiplayer hours. The game sold more than $1 billion in sell-through in that time frame, making it one of the most successful launches in Call of Duty history.
Engagement with the game has also increased since the removal of the season pass, according to Activision president Rob Kostich.
"We're looking at engagement and we're looking at daily average uniques, our engagement is up significantly year over year," he said in Activision's fourth quarter earnings call Feb. 6.
Exactly how many players are occupying the game's servers is unknown, but the number is safely in the millions worldwide.
Modern Warfare Season 2 began Tuesday, bringing a new Operator, a new map, a new gun and a new battle pass to the game.
