1. Own a Nintendo Switch Online Account

A Nintendo Switch Online account is necessary in order to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons and many other games online with friends. Memberships can be purchased in the Nintendo Switch eShop and at countless stores.

2. Add Friends to Nintendo Switch

Adding friends to your Nintendo Switch is easy. Click on your icon on the top left of the home page. Scroll down to add friends and either type in their friend code or send them yours which will appear at the bottom right of the screen.

3. Go to the Airport

Open Animal Crossing: New Horizons and go to your island airport. Talk to Orville and click "I want visitors!" and then select "All my friends!" This will open your island to all of your Nintendo Switch friends.

4. Best Friends List

Open your NookPhone and navigate to the Best Friends List. By clicking L and R, you can navigate to your friends list and add your friends that have visited your island as Best Friends which will allow them to use tools like axes on your island. From here you can also send messages using the "Send to all" feature if you have friends online.
