Team GO Rocket in Pokémon GO has been updated with new challenges, Pokémon and rewards in May 2022, and Leader Sierra is no exception. Here is everything you need to know about taking on Team GO Rocket Leader Sierra in Pokémon GO in May.

GO Rocket Leader Sierra Strategy Pokémon GO May 2022

Sierra will have three different Pokémon for trainers to face after they have used the Rocket Radar. The first one will always be Drowzee. The second one will either be Blaziken, Lapras or Sharpedo. The final one will be Houndoom, Shiftry, or Nidoqueen.

Drowzee Counters

The first phase is the most straightforward to plan for in this fight, as Sierra's first Pokémon will always be Drowzee. Drowzee is a Psychic-type Pokémon vulnerable to Dark-, Ghost-, and Bug-type attacks. Some of the best Pokémon to use to defeat Drowzee are Darkrai, Gengar, Chandelure and Weavile.

Second Pokémon Counters

Although there are three different potential Pokémon you can face in Sierra's second slot, there are some good selections that can cover you nicely for at least two of the options. Lapras is a Water/Ice-type Pokémon weak to Rock, Electric, Grass and Fighting attacks. Sharpedo is a Water/Dark-type weak to Grass, Fighting, Fairy, Electric and Bug attacks. For both Pokémon, Sirfetch'd, Lucario and Conkeldurr will provide good coverage.

Blaziken is a different beast with its Fire/Fighting-type and weaknesses to Water, Ground, Flying, and Psychic attacks. While most Water-type Pokémon would do, leaning into the Psychic-type weakness and using a Pokémon like Espeon, Mewtwo or Alakazam would serve you well because of some counters for the last Pokémon.

Third Pokémon Counters

The last Pokémon Sierra has will either be Houndoom, Shiftry or Nidoqueen with Fire/Dark, Grass/Dark, and Poison/Ground typings respectively. For Houndoom and Shrifty, using a Lucario, Conkeldurr, or even Machamp will again keep you covered. For Nidoqueen, using Psychic-type Pokémon again like Espeon or Mewtwo will get the job done.

In order to have the most efficient team possible for taking down Sierra the best combos seem to be: Darkrai, Lucario and Mewtwo if you have access to rarer and Legendary Pokémon, or Weavile, Conkeldurr and Espeon using more common Pokémon.
