In August 2019, Ditto has been known to take on the following forms:

Venonat
Paras
Sentret
Hoothoot
Ledyba
Yanma
Remoraid
Whismur
Gulpin

Ditto will appear as one of those Pokemon on your map, so be sure to catch any of these Pokemon when you see them. Ditto also will disguise its catch ring with that of the Pokemon it copies. Ditto has a pretty low catch rate, so if you're having unusual trouble catching one of these Pokemon, it might just be Ditto messing with you.

The kinds of Pokemon Ditto will disguise as changes periodically. Also, if there is an event for a Shiny Pokemon that Ditto could become, Ditto will not appear as that Pokemon for the event. For example, during the Montreal Safari Zone in 2019, Yanma will have an increased spawn with an increased chance for a Shiny. Ditto will not appear as Yanma for the duration of that event.

When you catch Ditto, you'll get an animation of the Pokemon transforming into its true form. Only catching Ditto will register it into your Pokedex, so it won't pick up that it was Ditto if you run away.

While Ditto isn't the most effective Pokemon in battle, it is still fun to use every once in a while. Its HP and Level don't change when it transforms, but its Types, Moves and Stats will. It's just so goofy and cute; it's hard not to love Ditto.
