We’ve explained how trainers can evolve Munchlax in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Ah, Munchlax—Snorlax’ oft-forgotten pre-evolved form. Fans may remember this Pokemon from its debut in the Hoenn region as part of the on-going television series “Pokemon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire.” Its debut ended with it being caught by May (Haruka). However, players wouldn’t be able to add this Pokemon to their team until its appearance in the main series games in Generation IV.

Munchlax has reappeared as a Hisui species in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

How to Evolve Munchlax in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Munchlax will evolve into Snorlax when it has developed a high enough friendship with its trainer. Simply keeping it in one’s party, asking it to perform tasks such as gathering berries and rocks, and battling with it will help improve the bond between Munchlax and the player.

According to its PokeDex description, Munchlax is a common visitor to villages and other settlements where it seeks out food that has been thrown away or left out. It seems to have no problem eating less-than-desirable food items and has been known to dig through compost to find them without issue. In Hisui, its PokeDex number is #51.

Munchlax is also the partner Pokemon of Mai, a member of Diamond Clan and Warden of Wyrdeer. When met, she explains to the player that she and Munchlax were essentially raised as siblings. This is likely a custom of Diamond Clan and/or the clans that live in Hisui, in general.

However, given Munchlax’s friendship requirement in order to evolve, it’s unclear just how close the two are. Whether there isn’t a sufficient bond between the two or Munchlax has simply decided against evolution is unclear. Regardless, it appears to be ready to battle for Mai whenever she asks—and anyone with a sibling knows they may not always get along.
