How to Evolve Pokemon in Pokemon GO is an essential skill for any aspiring Pokemon GO master. In recent updates, there have been a variety of ways added to evolve your Pokemon. Here is every possible method for evolving your Pokemon.
How to Evolve Pokemon in Pokemon GO
Gather your Candy: No matter what extra items or tasks you need to evolve your Pokemon, every evolution will require you to spend a certain amount of your Pokemon's unique candy. This can be acquired three ways: catching one of that Pokemon (yields three candy), transferring extras to Professor Willow (yields one candy), and walking with the Pokemon as your buddy (yields one candy every few KM walked). To evolve most Pokemon for the first time, you'll need to spend around 25-50 candy, and anywhere from 50-100 for a second evolution.
Special Items: Like held items in the core series of games, some Pokemon will require a special item along with candy to evolve. These Pokemon are Slowpoke (Kings Rock), Poliwhirl (Kings Rock), Gloom (Sun Stone), Sunkern (Sun Stone), Porygon (Upgrade), Seadra (Dragon Scale), Scyther (Metal Coat), Onix (Metal Coat).
Regional Stones: With the introductions of Gens IV and V into Pokemon GO, several Pokemon require either a Sinnoh or Unova Stone to evolve.
The Pokemon that require Sinnoh Stones to evolve are Lickitung, Rhyhorn, Tangela, Electabuzz, Magmar, Porygon2, Togetic, Sneasel, Aipom, Yanma, Murkrow, Gligar, Misdreavus, Piloswine, Kirlia, Dusclops, and Snorunt.
The Pokemon that require a Unova Stone to evolve are Pansage, Pansear, Panpour, Munna, Minccino, Elektrik, and Lampent.
