How to Fix Fortnite 'Checking For Updates' Screen

If you’ve logged into Fortnite today on select platforms, you may be one of a few players who have gotten stuck on a screen saying that the game is “checking for updates.”
Many Nintendo Switch users and some PC players have taken to social media to try and find a fix to the update, and Epic Games has noticed the flaw, and says they are “investigating the log-in issues.”

How to Fix Fortnite 'Checking For Updates' Screen
Fortnite tweeted early Tuesday morning that they were investigating the issue and would update players when the issue is resolved. The issue seems to have sparked with the newest patch 16.30 update.
We are investigating the login issues on Nintendo Switch, where players are stuck on "You do not have the permission to play Fortnite" message.

According to FortniteStatus, the official service update page for Fortnite on Twitter, the issue has been resolved, and players on any console should be able to log into the game successfully and jump into a match. Now players can enjoy everything patch 16.30 has to offer: including new items in creative, a new exotic bow, and the quests to unlock the long-awaited Neymar Jr. skin.
