Golden weapons are a result of one of Overwatch's most special cosmetics. Here's how to get hold of some for yourself.
Throughout Overwatch's lifespan, we've seen the release of some truly interesting skins and cosmetics. While most are obtained through purchases, loot boxes, or special events, there are some that can be earned. If you're looking to get a golden skin for your weapons, then you'll have to put in a bit of work to do so.
Here's everything you need to know about getting golden weapons in Overwatch.
How to Get Golden Weapons in Overwatch
To unlock golden weapons in Overwatch you'll need to earn Competitive Points (CP) in the game's Competitive Mode. You'll be able to purchase a golden weapon for a Hero of your choice for 3,000 CP. While this might not sound too complex, it could be a bit time consuming. For each game win, you'll earn 15 points. A tie will net you five points while losing gets you nothing.
3,000 CP is a lot of Competitive games. Fortunately, a hefty chunk of points can be earned at the end of each Competitive season. Thanks to role-queue, Competitive Points are awarded for each rank you earn at the end of the season from Bronze to Grandmaster.
- Bronze - 25 points per role (75 total)
- Silver - 50 points per role (150 total)
- Gold - 100 points per role (300) total)
- Platinum - 200 points per role (600 total)
- Diamond - 300 points per role (900 total)
- Master - 500 points per role (1,500 total)
- Grandmaster - 650 points per role (1,950 total)
If you want to get a golden weapon for a second Hero, you'll need to earn another 3,000 CP. Once you've gotten enough points, head to the Hero Gallery, choose your character, then scroll to the bottom to find "weapons." Find the golden option and hit "unlock."
