How to Get Mew in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

There were many reasons to get excited during the August 8th Pokémon Presents presentation. From a Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC to two new Pokémon series, there’s a lot of content for fans to be hyped about.

Among the most exciting announcements was the new event, Get Mew and Mewtwo. Both psychic Pokémon can join your crew in this latest update.

Here’s how to add the cuter one to your party. 

How to Get Mew in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

You can get Mew by entering the password “GETY0URMEW” in the Mystery Gift menu. 

Mystery Gift allows players to get in-game rewards with codes. Keep in mind that passwords can only be used one time per saved file.

The password will expire on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 14:59 UTC.

How to Unlock Mystery Gift

Players can unlock Mystery Gift early on in the game. 

The first step is to meet Nemona and complete a tutorial with her. Once players are done with that, Nemona will show them where Uva or Naranja Academy is. 

On the way there, players will stumble across Los Platos. They should go to the Pokémon Center in the town to unlock Mystery Gift.

It takes about 60 - 90 minutes to access the feature.

How to use Mystery Gift

Now that you’ve unlocked Mystery Gift, let’s figure out how to use it. Follow these steps to get your Mew:

  1. Connect your Nintendo Switch to the internet. You’ll have to link your user profile to a Nintendo Account to do this.
  2. Press the X button to open the main menu.
  3. Select the Poké Portal option on the right-hand side of the screen.
  4. Mystery Gift should be the last option at the bottom of the menu.
  5. Choose the Get With Code/Password option.
  6. Type GETY0URMEW into the field.
  7. Select the Mythical Pokémon Mew Gift to receive it. 
  8. You can find the Pokémon in one of the Pokémon Boxes if the party is full.

Note: Ensure your Nintendo Switch has enough battery before redeeming a code. If it dies while processing the code, you may not be able to use the password again.
