Scattered around the many realms in God of War Ragnarök are Nornir Chests. Here's how to open up the rune chest in The Abandoned Village.

Nornir Chests are found all over the realms, containing valuable materials such as Idunn Apples or Horns of Blood Mead. These items will either increase Kratos' health or his Maximum Rage — both important gauges to max out for the many fights ahead.

But because these items are so valuable, cracking open the Nornir Chests requires more work. To unlock them, you'll need to find and break three runes, or Seals, located around the area near the chest. Here's how to find the runes and open the Nornir Rune Chest in The Abandoned Village.

There are three braziers to light to open this Nornir Chest. The runes bear a resemblance to the letters 'R', 'C' and 'N'.

  • Rune ‘R’ — Move the crane to the first island, where you entered the area. Make the bucket of fire swing to the left, using the Blades of Chaos, to hit and light the hidden brazier.
  • Rune ‘C’ — Move the crane to jump to the other island, to the left of where you entered the area. Move it again so that it is opposite the brazier. Move it with the Blades of Chaos to light it.

  • Rune ‘N’ — Opposite the chest. Use the Blades of Chaos to light the brazier.

Once complete, open the chest to receive a Horn of Blood Mead.
