How to Open the Nornir Rune Chest in The Southern Wilds: God of War Ragnarök

Scattered around the many realms in God of War Ragnarök are Nornir Chests. Here's how to open up the rune chest in The Southern Wilds.

Nornir Chests are found all over the realms, containing valuable materials such as Idunn Apples or Horns of Blood Mead. These items will either increase Kratos' health or his Maximum Rage — both important gauges to max out for the many fights ahead.

But because these items are so valuable, cracking open the Nornir Chests requires more work. To unlock them, you'll need to find and break three runes, or Seals, located around the area near the chest. Here's how to find the runes and open the Nornir Rune Chest in The Southern Wilds.

How to Open the Nornir Rune Chest in The Southern Wilds

For this Nornir Chest, you’ll need to hit the panels to turn the wheel so that the correct rune is facing outwards.

• Rune ‘C’ — opposite the chest, to the right. On a ledge. Turn it to make the ‘C’ face Kratos.

• Rune ‘R’ — Go back the way you came and look between two trees on a rocky ledge. The rune is hidden behind brambles. Use the Blades of Chaos to ignite some brambles just to the left of it, which will set off a fiery chain of brambles up to the rune. Turn the mechanism until the ‘R’ rune is facing outwards.

• Rune ‘N’ — Again, this one is hidden by brambles. Head opposite the chest and to the left. Turn the wheel until the ‘N’ is facing Kratos.

Head back to the chest and open it to receive an Idunn Apple.
