Knowing how to parry in AC Valhalla is an absolutely fundamental skill. The technique allows you to time your defensive maneuver such that you stun your opponent, giving you the chance to execute a deadly reprisal. The system first appeared in the earliest Assassin's Creed games before vanishing temporarily. Now it's returned in Valhalla. Here's how to parry in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

How to Parry in AC Valhalla, Explained

Parrying in Assassin's Creed Valhalla isn't terribly complicated. As long as you have something equipped in your left hand — a shield or short blade will do the trick — you only need to press the left bumper (LB or L1) just before the enemy hits you. This will only work on attacks that begin with the enemy receiving a golden highlight.

If you perform the parry correctly, you'll expend some stamina and the enemy will be open for a counterattack for a few seconds. These counterattacks will be particularly effective, giving you time before the enemy resets their guard.

Don't try to parry attacks that begin with the enemy glowing red — these are heavy attacks, and they can't be blocked or parried. They must instead be dodged.
