Diablo II Resurrected is a faithful remake of the original title, which only means that most mechanics remain unchanged. Of those unchained mechanics, gems remain a tricky topic for newcomers, like how to remove them from gear. Here’s how to remove gems in Diablo II Resurrected.

Like most RPGs, gems in Diablo are secondary buffs that can be equipped on slots provided by gears. They’re easy to come across, and come with different abilities the player can make use of. However, once a gem is placed on gear, it cannot be removed, so it’s going to require a bit of know-how to remove the gems. Luckily for players, it isn’t as hard as one would think.

How to Remove Gems in Diablo 2 Resurrected

To clean gear in Diablo II Resurrected, players will need to use the Horadric Cube to remove any gems on it. When using the cube, place the gear in the slot along with a Hel Rune and a Scroll of Town Portal. Press “transmute,” and the gear will be squeaky-clean. All the gem slots will be empty, and players can now build the armor as they wish.

Players need to remember that once a gem is removed from any gear, that gem cannot be reclaimed and repurposed on other gear. If the gem is removed, that’s it. Luckily, gems are commonly found during gameplay, but it’s advised to think a bit before placing any high-powered gems on gear.

Diablo II Resurrected is available to purchase on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
