Hyper Rare Golden Mushrooms in Fortnite: Here's How to Find Them

Epic Games by now is no stranger to the world of non-communicative patch notes and updates, as they have not released any official dev notes since the beginning of Chapter 2 of Fortnite Battle Royale. Gameplay changes, weapon balance and the addition of easter eggs have all been unveiled by the community rather than Epic Games, to the frustration of players, especially content creators and pros.

This time a feature recently added into the game goes above and beyond any previous stealth updates, as the devs have added a super-rare in-game item to Fortnite in the form of the Golden Mushroom. Following the 13.20 update on June 30, the devs have added one of the best consumable items ever found in the game.

Golden Mushroom Fortnite: How to Find it

Once eaten, the Golden Mushroom replenishes 100 shield, and can be stacked up to three in one inventory slot. The Mushroom being golden is new for Fortnite, as veggies and consumables are usually of a blue hue in-game. If looking to get your hands on this item, you may need to have some serious RNG luck as Fortnite leaker and data-miner HYPEX has speculated that you have only a 0.0001% chance to come across the item as it spawns normally in-game. 

The Golden Mushroom also will not drop or spawn in food boxes, so acquiring the item has to be purely organic. Here’s how to get your hands on it:

  • Drop into the POIs of either swamp land or forestry, where trees are located.
  • Search underneath the trees and in the water, as their spawns are quite different to regular mushrooms.
  • Take your time looking around (while trying to stay alive), and hopefully the legendary item will be sitting there just waiting for you to pick it out of the dirt.

It may take a few games to come across the item due to its incredibly low spawn rate, but once you do, it can play an invaluable role in surviving firefights and enemy encounters.
