Age of Empires has returned with its fourth installation after a 15-year main series gap and could potentially be coming to Xbox.

One of the most nostalgic real-time strategy games is making an epic return to PC and consoles today, Thursday, Oct. 28. Age of Empires IV, fresh out of the Relic Entertainment workshop, is hitting shelves and launching players into historical campaigns as we speak.

"One of the most beloved real-time strategy games returns to glory with Age of Empires IV, putting you at the center of epic historical battles that shaped the world," the website proclaims, "Featuring both familiar and innovative new ways to expand your empire in vast landscapes with stunning 4K visual fidelity, Age of Empires IV brings an evolved real-time strategy game to a new generation."

Is Age of Empires 4 Coming to Xbox?

Yes, Age of Empires 4 is coming to both Xbox the console and to Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription service.

Fans of Age of Empires will be able to play the game on the Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X. It can be purchased directly from the Microsoft store and via the Age of Empire website. Those who have subscribed to Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass will automatically have the game credited to their account once it goes live.

This extends to PC players, as well, thanks to the new PC component to Game Pass. It can also be purchased on Steam.

Age of Empire 4 is set to launch on Oct. 28.
