We’ve answered the question of whether or not Niantic Labs has issued an event for the Thanksgiving holiday in Pokemon GO.

The holiday season is coming up on Pokemon GO, bringing with it a litany of celebrations for trainers throughout the world. For some trainers—particularly those within the United States—it usually kicks off with Thanksgiving and bleeds directly into the various winter holidays. This has led some to wonder if Niantic Labs was planning on implementing an in-game event dedicated to the popular family feast day.

Here’s what we know about Thanksgiving in Pokemon GO.

Pokémon GO Thanksgiving Event 2021 Details

Unfortunately, no. Niantic Labs does not have a Thanksgiving event scheduled for 2021.

This is likely due to the fact that Thanksgiving is not a globally recognized holiday—unlike Día de los Muertos or Diwali. Thanksgiving is a national holiday celebrated primarily within the United States of America, with some participation in other countries such as Canada, Liberia, Rwanda, and Saint Lucia.

However, even in these countries, the holiday is not celebrated on the same date. Rwanda, for example, celebrates its Thanksgiving—known as “Umuganura Day”—to mark the end of the harvest in late August. Saint Lucia celebrates it on the first Monday in October.

The next upcoming event in Pokemon GO concludes the Season of Mischief with “Mischief Unbound.” It is set to run from Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. to Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. Trainers will be able to encounter the Unbound form of Hoopa—alongside rare raid bosses and bonus buffs, of course.

More information about Mischief Unbound can be found on the official Pokemon GO news blog.
