Current Call of Duty League commissioner Johanna Faries will take the newly created position Head of Leagues on Oct. 12, becoming the head of both the CDL and the Overwatch League, The Esports Observer reported Friday.

Owners in the leagues received news of the change in responsibilities following the stepping down of Overwatch League commissioner Pete Vlastelica, per The Esports Observer. Vlastelica left the role of commissioner Thursday for a new role focusing on entrepreneurial ventures at Activision Blizzard Esports.

As the head of both leagues, Faries will oversee team and broadcast operations. She will also function as the administrator for both leagues.

DBLTAP has reached out to Blizzard for confirmation and will update this story with its response.

Both the Call of Duty League and the Overwatch League have been forced by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) to pivot in the past year. Faries managed to keep viewership for the CDL strong through those challenges, but she'll have her work cut out for her as regulations around in-person events extend into 2021.
