In League of Legends Patch 12.1, players will be seeing a Rengar rework that will help balance out the champion in Season 12. Riot Games has been testing out different reworks on the champion in PBE, and hope to bring the assassin jungler back into the game.

With Season 12 starting on Jan. 4, preseason 2022 brought a lot of new and big changes to League of Legends, especially in the jungle. Riot introduced two new dragons, the Hextech and Chemtech Drakes, and new bounty objectives. With new champions and items, Rengar started to fall behind in the game.

Rengar is typically played in the jungle and is an assassin. His abilities allow him to leap on an enemy champion when he is in Brush, and deals significant damage to them. Rengar is similar to Kha'Zix, Talon, or Evelynn.

After reworking Rengar a few times and testing him out in PBE, here is what we can expect from Rengar in Season 12.

  • Rengar will now Camouflage after one second of R activation (was two seconds before).
  • During Camouflage, Rengar gains True-Sight on any nearby champions for 20 seconds.
  • Rengar will leap attack when Camouflaged.
  • R gives 60% movement speed.

The Chemtech Rift, which was recently added to League of Legends, creates four gas zones in the jungle which camouflage the team's champions. It was noticeable that Rengar was struggling to play when the Chemtech Rift is active.

Hopefully, Rengar's new rework will help bring balance to the overall game and will bring the champion back into League of Legends.
