League of Legends ranked distribution can be skewed to the upper end because of popular streamers and content creators being slated toward the higher tiers of ranked.
Many people do not realize how good Diamond and above players are, as in reality many of the game's players are in Gold and Silver. But looking at the distribution of ranks across each tier really sheds light on how few players achieve getting to Diamond and higher.
League of Legends Ranked Distribution
Of all the players that play Ranked SoloQ, 34.55% of them are in Silver, and 29.02% are in Gold. So, including Bronze and Iron divisions, more that 80% of players are Gold or below in their solo queue ranking. On top of this there are more players specifically in Bronze II than all of Diamond, Master, GrandMaster, and Challenger combined.
