The League of Legends top laner list for Patch 11.5 has finally arrived. The list takes into consideration how certain items were nerfed (or buffed) and how that affects the efficiency of a champion that has that item in their primary build. Additionally, the list takes into mind how effective the champion is against certain match-ups, but without further ado, the list is as follows:

With damage overtime, a hook and a slow Darius has a kit that's a death sentence to most glass cannons in the late phases of the game.

S-Tier

  • Riven
  • Darius
  • Garen
  • Fiora
  • Camille
  • Ornn
  • Gnar

In the S-Tier we find champions who have great crowd control, high win-rates, and a couple of buffs that may have assisted the champion in making it into the bracket. A prime example of this is Riven, whose new cooldowns make her deadly in the right hands. Darius and Garen are very efficient, particularly with Black Cleaver. Also in this tier is Fiora and Camille--duelists who excel at handling their matchups. Ornn and Gnar both have great crowd control which is why they are in this tier.

While Sett may not have a high win-rate as a support, he makes up for it as a top laner.

A-Tier

  • Shen
  • Sett
  • Malphite
  • Poppy
  • Wukong

Shen, Sett, Malphite and Poppy are all tanks that despite checking some S-tier boxes, they lack mobility and some are not efficient against specific matchups. Wukong's knock-up, damage and consistent win-rates places him here.

Urgot's core items were buffed so much so that it brought him up the tier list.

B-Tier

  • Urgot
  • Nasus
  • Quinn
  • Irelia
  • jayce

Urgot is not the only champion whose core items received changes that altered his standing in the tier list. Late-game, much like Nasus, Quinn, Irelia and Jayce, he is difficult to deal with. Most of the champions in this tier struggle against some match-ups, and shine the most during the late-game phase of the game once they have their core items.

A 10% increase in ability power, coupled with Rylai's and Imperial Mandate, attribute higher win-rates for Singed players.

C-Tier

  • Singed
  • Sion
  • Ytrndamere
  • Jax
  • Nocturne

Most, if not all, of the champions in this bracket are situational (more so than most.) Singed, for example, is making a comeback thanks to a 10% AP increase in his first ability and players using his ability-power build. Sion, Tryndamere and Jax are also in this bracket because not only are their kits situational but it also depends on the ELO the player is currently in. Jax may be efficient in lower ELOs, but less so in higher ranks. Nocturne also has this issue, where despite being effective against glass cannons in lower levels, he can struggle against tankier matchups.

Gangplank is one of the few champions with an ultimate that can be deployed anywhere in the map, but he can be defeated by more common top-lane picks.

D-Tier

  • Aatrox
  • Gangplank
  • Cho'Gath

Champions like Aatrox or Gangplank are great, but tend to be more difficult to use and are easily countered by champions that are picked quite often. The same applies to Cho'Gath, and while Cho'Gath and Gangplank have a great late-game they struggle so much in the laning phase that by then, the enemy champion may have a farming advantage (or worse, if a gank fails.)

There's plenty of players who spend hundreds of hours perfecting a champion, maybe even one I did not name. These players could easily defeat a Riven with their main champion since this tier-list is not an official guide; at best, it is an opinion based on my experience playing League of Legends.
