The best weapon type in Legend of Mana should have a good amount of reach without sacrificing strength or mobility.
Legend of Mana allows players to choose from at least 10 types of weapons, including the typical RPG standbys of swords, bows, and axes. Each type has a different stat for strength, reach, and player mobility on the battlefield.
Below, we've explained each type, and sorted out which is the best to use in-game.
Legend of Mana Best Weapon Type
Surprisingly, most players favor the spear due to its impeccable reach and decent strength—meaning players can hit enemies from farther away and still inflict decent damage.
Others enjoy using one-handed swords—especially in the early game—as their allowance for shield use gives players a bit more protection while they learn the ropes. Two-handed swords don't offer the same protection but do tend to inflict more damage and have greater reach, as do axes.
Gloves and knives work best for characters who prioritize speed and agility. These are the quickest weapon types, but they don't give much in the way of damage. Those who aren't comfortable getting up-close and personal with enemies should ignore these two.
Bows, though known to be difficult by some, are the best—and, potentially, only—ranged weapon in the game. They can also be incredibly strong if used properly so some players consider practicing with them to be well worth the time.
Staves, unsurprisingly, are best suited for magic-users and casters. They give a bonus to magic, but otherwise aren't very useful in combat. As it turns out, hitting something with a stick isn't exactly the best tactic.
Flails tend to behave like one-handed swords with a general speed and attack strength while hammers are more comparable to axes.
Ultimately, the best weapon in Legend of Mana is reliant on the rest of a player's build and their individual needs. We recommend fleshing out all other parts of combat rather than equipping a strong spear and hoping it does the job alone.
