Los Angeles Gladiators Add Face as Third Assistant Coach

The Los Angeles Gladiators added Sam "face" Merewether to its Overwatch League coaching staff Wednesday.

Face will work as an assistant coach alongside head coach and general manager David "dpei" Pei, assistant coaches Timothy Albanese and James "Faustus" Frye, performance coach Matthew "reinfcmnt" Edwards and strategic coach Rohit "CurryShot" Nathani.

Face began his Overwatch career playing for Australian teams such as B1G, Kings Gaming Club and Sydney Drop Bears. With Sydney Drop Bears, face moved to his first coaching role and won Overwatch Contenders Australia 2018 Season 2.

He left the team in November 2018 to coach NRG Esports in North American Overwatch Contenders, then moved on to coach Hong Kong team Talon Esports in Pacific Overwatch Contenders.

Face is one of several new additions the Gladiators have made ahead of Overwatch League Season 3. Other acquisitions include Ji-hyeok "birdring" Kim, Gia Huy "Chris" "MirroR" Trịnh and Nolan "Paintbrush" Edwards among others.
