Major Aatrox Changes Enter League of Legends Patch 9.9

Aatrox receives major changes in League of Legends Patch 9.9, set to release Wednesday.

According to Riot Games' patch notes, Aatrox has become too reliant on the guarantee of a revive through his ultimate, World Ender (R). Wednesday’s changes will even things out between reliable power at the pro level and power that fits Aatrox from a flavor perspective. The most major change is to his revive’s reliability, and on the whole the adjustments move him closer to a bruiser play style.

Aatrox Changes in League of Legends Patch 9.9

Aatrox

  • Health regen decreased from eight to three

Deathbringer Stance (Passive)

  • No longer reduces healing and shielding on champions
  • Now heals aatrox for bonus physical damage dealt
  • Bonus damage changed from 8-16% (levels 1-18) of the target’s maximum health to 5-10% (levels 1-18) of the target’s maximum health
  • Cooldown decreased from 25 seconds to 15
  • Cooldown refund changed from two seconds per ability cast and per champion hit with the edge of Darkin Blade to two seconds per attack or ability hit on enemy champions and large monsters per champion hit with the edge of the Darkin Blade
  • Maximum damage vs. monsters decreased from 400 to 100
  • Attack frame adjusted to better match Aatrox’s basic attacks

The Darkin Blade (Q)

  • Cooldown timer start time changed from first cast to after third cast, or after Q cast window expires
  • Cooldown decreased from 16/15/14/13/12 seconds to 14/12/10/8/6
  • Damage increased from 10/25/40/55/70 to 10/30/50/70/90

Infernal Chains (W)

  • Slow changed from 15/20/25/30/35% to 25% at all ranks
  • Cooldown changed from 18/17/16/15/14 seconds to 26/23/20/17/14

Umbral Dash (E)

  • No longer grants bonus attack damage
  • Heal trigger changed from physical damage vs. champions to any non-periodic damage vs. champions

World Ender (R)

  • Takedowns now extend World Ender by five seconds, refresh its movement speed and allow Aatrox to revive upon taking lethal damage while World Ender is active. This replaces the old revive mechanic
  • No longer clears temporary buffs on Aatrox
  • Movement speed changed from 120/180/240 flat movement speed for one second on cast and while out of combat during World Ender to 60/80/100% decaying over World Ender’s duration
  • No longer fears nearby allied minions on cast
  • Aatrox receives 40/55/70% increased healing during World Ender
  • Cooldown timer start changed from after World ender expires to on cast
  • Cooldown decreased from 160/140/120 seconds to 1240/120/100
  • Cast time decreased from 0.5 seconds to 0.25
  • Slow during revive increased from 25% to 99%
  • Heal during revive changed from 10-50% of Aatrox’s maximum health (based on Blood Well) to 30% of Aatrox’s maximum health
