EA Sports has officially announced that Marc Overmars has been suspended from FIFA 22, and his items will be removed from the game for an indefinite period of time. The news comes after abuse allegations were made against Overmars at Ajax, which he admitted to being true, leading to his departure from the club.

Marc Overmars Suspended From FIFA 22, Icon Cards Removed from Game

According to EA Sports, Marc Overmars ICON items "will no longer be made available in packs, SBCs and FUT Draft, and their price range in the Transfer Market has been fixed until further notice." It's unknown if this suspension is permanent, but it also means that Overmars' Icon Moments card will also not be added to the game when Moments Icons are incorporated into FUT in the coming months.

FIFA has taken similar actions to players in the past for involvement in these kinds of cases, most recently including Mason Greenwood last month and Benjamin Mendy last year. Considering that neither have returned to their clubs or the game since, this can be the end of Marc Overmars' time as an Icon in FIFA.
