The first free post-launch update for Mario Strikers: Battle League will be released on Thursday, July 21, at 9 p.m. ET, Nintendo announced Tuesday.

After initially releasing on June 10, 2022, Mario Strikers: Battle League's first batch of DLC content has officially been announced as promised. Here's a breakdown of everything you need to know about the Mario Strikers: Battle League Wave 1 update.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Wave 1 Update: Full Details

New Characters: Daisy and Shy Guy

At launch, Mario Strikers: Battle League notably had 10 characters on its roster ready to be played, a stark contrast from Mario Strikers: Charged, which had 12 Team Captains and eight Sidekicks for players to unlock.

Fittingly enough, headlining this upcoming update is the addition of two fan-favorite characters in Daisy and Shy Guy.

Per Nintendo, Daisy will be a Technique Type character whose skillful passing and Flower Spiral Hyper Strike will keep opponents guessing.

Meanwhile, Shy Guy is said to be an all-rounder who can easily be tailored to players' personal play styles and features a Propeller Dive Hyper Strike.

New Gear: Knight

Additionally, a new Gear type will be added to Mario Strikers: Battle League called Knight, which specializes in increasing characters' Strength and Shooting at the cost of other attributes.

New Stadium: Desert Ruin
