Infinity Ward released a trailer for Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 5 on Thursday, revealing a new in-game faction called Shadow Company.
The trailer begins as a recruitment message for Armistice, a temporary military alliance created between the Coalition and Allegiance factions to battle Al-Qatala-Aljahdid in Verdansk. The message is then interrupted by a Shadow Company recruiting message promoting the group's mercenary professionalism.
Shadow Company was first introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, where it was the main antagonist hunting down Captain Price and the rest of Task Force 141. In Modern Warfare and Warzone, they represent a splinter group within the Armistice alliance and have appeared in teasers leading up to Season 5.
In in-game terms, Shadow Company is a trio of Operators named Rozlin "Roze" Helms, Velikan, and leader Marcus "Lerch" Ortega. Roze is an ex-Jackal, Velikan a mystery, and Lerch a morally flexible but highly skilled soldier.
All three Operators will go live when Season 5 hits live servers Aug. 5.
