Modern Warfare classified mode appeared in the game's menus after Modern Warfare Season 2 went live.
An abundance of new content was dropped but, despite all the new maps, modes and guns, fans are left wondering what lies ahead as Infinity Ward continues to tease a classified mode. Might this be the battle royale mode the community has been hoping for?
Modern Warfare Classified Mode: New Mode Appears in Season 2
After downloading the Season 2 update, fans are greeted with Modern Warfare's new main menu. Next to the Multiplayer option, Infinity Ward has added a new locked section labeled "CLASSIFIED."
While there hasn't been any information on what the classified mode will actually entail, there's been speculation that it will likely be a battle royale mode similar to the fan-favorite Blackout mode from Black Ops 4. The cinematic in-game trailer also appears to tease the supposed battle royale mode. It shows operators dropping from a plane into a large war-torn city riddled with explosions.
Rumored to include around 200 players, the hypothetical game mode has been a major talking point among the Call of Duty community. Dating back to December, in-game bugs appeared to reveal the map and its loading screen but Infinity Ward and Activision have yet to make any comment on it.
