Mortal Kombat 11 Mercy: Why Should You Perform a Mercy?

Mortal Kombat 11 Mercy took the internet by storm when a feature nearly long forgotten returned to the latest entry in the franchise.

Mercy, first introduced back in Mortal Kombat 3, is a game mechanic that allows players to give enemies a second chance at living by giving them a sliver of health at the end of the game.

So, why should you perform a Mercy in Mortal Kombat 11? Here's everything you need to know.

Mortal Kombat 11 Mercy

To perform a Mercy in Mortal Kombat 11, players must first defeat an opponent. Once the Finish Him/Her prompt appears on the screen, back up from the enemy character, hold L2 or LT depending on platform, press down on the thumbstick multiple times and then release the trigger button.

Essentially, teabag while holding L2 or LT. Once completed correctly, a prompt saying Mercy will pop up and the opponent will be brought back to life with a small amount of health. Although, why would you want to risk a comeback? Well, new Brutalities have been found as executable only after bringing someone back to life. The original feature in MK3 unlocked Animalities as a finisher, so maybe this means they're hidden somewhere in the game, too.

Mortal Kombat 11 is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
