Blizzard has announced the release of a new skin for Widowmaker with the return of the Overwatch Archives.

The first skin of the event has been revealed only 24 hours before the launch of Overwatch Archives 2021. Blizzard posted a short video showcasing the skin, Mousquetaire Widowmaker, set to go live on April 6 alongside the event. This is currently on the only confirmed new skin for Archives this year.

Mousquetaire Widowmaker Skin

Mousquetaire Widowmaker bears a soft blue and white outfit with a white long sleeve dress shirt with a large color underneath a blue tabard emblazoned with the Fleur de Lis in bright white on the chest. The edges are also embroidered with white. She wears a blue tri-corner hat with red feathers and silver edging, a leather shoulder pauldron, and knee-high leather boots accented in silver.

Mousquetaire Widowmaker obviously takes inspiration from the mousquetaires (English: musketeers) known for their sharp senses in both battle and fashion. Traditional French mousquetaires were a single arm of the military within the King of France's personal guard. They were noted to act as dragoons, skilled in both infantry and mounted rifle combat.

Members of the force were often the sons of nobility who did not yet have a claim to the titles of their house. Mousquetaires are perhaps best identified by their extraordinary clothing, often made of expensive blue and white silk embroidered with silver and sometimes red thread. They commonly sported the Fleur de Lis—the white symbol on Widowmaker's tabard.

Players will be able to unlock the Mousquetaire Widowmaker skin with the launch of the Overwatch Archives event on April 6.
