Amos Hodge, lead designer at Raven Software, spoke to GameSpot about the philosophy and design of the Gulag, the 1v1 battle arena in Warzone. It's a unique mechanic to Warzone and Call of Duty and allows players to return to the game if they win a 1v1. It's the first time a battle royale has done something like this.

Hodge does explain the Gulag will always have a low number of weapons in rotation as they want players to be used to the experience. If they increase the total amount of weapons, players could lose the battle simply because they never use the gun.

"We are looking at changing up the Gulag starting weapons for future updates to keep things fresh," Hodge explained. "The goal is to maintain a small set of weapons so players can get familiar with them."

During the entire interview, Hodge never explains when the change will take place, but the next season is supposed to start around June. Season 4 could see a new wave of guns in the Gulag.
