Next-Gen GTA V Releases Won't Be 'Simple Port,' Per Take-Two CEO

The upcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Grand Theft Auto V will be more than "simple ports," according to Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two.

Zelnick made his comment during a Morgan Stanley technology conference transcribed by VGC. When asked about Take-Two's remaster strategy moving forward, Zelnick said Take-Two held itself to a higher standard than its competition.

"Remastering has always been a part of the strategy. We've done differently than the competition — we don't just port titles over, we actually take the time to do the very best job we can making the title different for the new release, for the new technology that we're launching it on. We improve the technology, we upgrade the visuals, and we make performance enhancements. And that's why I think our remastered titles typically do so well," he said.

Zelnick then said the version of GTA V coming to PS5 would bring more than the base game to the console.

"I'm confident that Rockstar is going to deliver just a great experience, but you can't do that if you're just doing a simple port," he said.

This aligns with Rockstar's previous port of GTA V. When it brought that game to the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, Rockstar added a first-person mode, upped the GTA Online player cap, and added several other new features.

Rockstar has not revealed release date information about the next-gen GTA V ports.
