Square Enix have announced a sequel to 2020's Octopath Traveler — Octopath Traveler 2.
Revealed as part of the September Nintendo Direct, Octopath Traveler 2 sends players on their next journey through the brand-new world of Solistia. Eight new travelers, each hailing from different regions, embark on a journey of their own reasons.
Players choose to begin the adventure as one of the eight new travelers, each with their own origins and unique skills. Like the original, players will be able to develop their traveler's jobs and skills, and utilize the Break and Boost system in battle.
The new playable characters are:
- Hikari - a Warrior
- Agnea - a Dancer
- Partitio - a Merchant
- Osvald - a Scholar
- Throné - a Thief
- Temenos - a Cleric
- Ochette - a Hunter
- Castti - an Apothecary
Octopath Traveler 2 will make use of the same HD-2D visuals, with a full day and night cycle, varied camera angles, and more detailed environments. Places change depending on whether you vist during the day or at night, offering more opportunities for exploration.
Square Enix have confirmed that Octopath Traveler 2 will be its own standalone game. Players will not need to have played Octopath Traveler before in order to enjoy the adventure.
Octopath Traveler 2 will launch on February 24, 2023 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Steam.
