Overwatch 2 Story Will Follow Multiple Characters' Perspective

Overwatch 2's story mode will be told from the perspective of multiple different characters, according to lead writer Michael Chu.
Speaking to Game Informer, Chu said Overwatch 2 would finally advance the story, showing players what the world looks like after Winston calls Overwatch agents back into service.

"What we're really exploring now is, 'What does Overwatch mean in the present day of the story? And how will these heroes react to what's going on? And what does this era of heroism mean?'" Chu said.
To tell that story, Chu and the writing team plan to lean on the many perspectives afforded by Overwatch's diverse cast of heroes.
"[The heroes] all have very different backgrounds, and they all have different lenses through which they see Overwatch and, also, the world. What we want to do is take advantage of that and really let you experience the story through all these characters' eyes."
Fans are eagerly anticipating Overwatch 2's story content. Blizzard has yet to announce the title's official release date.
