Overwatch DDoS Attacks: Everything You Need to Know
By Andrew Lin

Overwatch DDOS attacks are giving players connection issues. It's not just Overwatch; much of Blizzard's network is affected. Here's what you need to know to know.
Overwatch DDoS Attacks
Since Sept. 6, Blizzard's servers have been afflicted by a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack. This has caused many players to have connection issues, from difficulties logging in to instability in online matches.
Some online services continue to be impacted by a series of DDoS attacks which are resulting in high latency and disconnections. These disruption effects have been felt by a portion of our players, impacting their gaming experience. Thank you again for your continued patience.

During this period, it is advised you do not partake in any competitive modes, as if you get disconnected you'll incur the penalties associated with leaving the game. These penalties cannot be reversed, so if you don't want to lose SR you should avoid playing comp for the time being.
The attack is allegedly related to dissatisfaction with WoW Classic, though official details are sparse. The twitter account that claimed responsibility for the attack has since been deleted. Some realms in WoW had been stabilized, but as a whole the attack is still happening.
We continue to actively monitor an ongoing DDOS attack against network providers, affecting latency/connections to our games. #BlizzCS
