Overwatch Fans Call for Comic Book Character to be Added to Game

One of the major criticisms players have leveled at Blizzard's Overwatch, is the lack of new heroes since 2020. The last added hero to the game was Echo, and since then, the game has become boring in some fans' eyes as they wait for Overwatch 2 news.

Some fans have called for new characters to be added to the game, and one, in particular, has gained a lot of traction, Mirembe.

In addition to the game and its accompanying cinematics, Blizzard has released a series of comic books inspired by Overwatch’s ongoing story. According to the comics, Mirembe is a former squad member who appears to have taken part in several rescue operations on behalf of the team. She's now appeared in multiple comics, most recently on Jan. 11 in the ongoing ‘New Blood’ series.

“In the most recent Overwatch comics (New Blood 3) we can see an Overwatch agent that we have already seen in the past: Mirembe,” reads one Reddit post. “Now we want to know: will she be in OW2? (not necessarily as a hero, maybe even as an NPC?)”

It's safe to say that Mirembe would be a welcome addition to Overwatch, with the lack of engaging content in the game recently. Blizzard haven't mentioned any upcoming character additions to the game, so we'll have to see if this rumor rings true.
