Overwatch hero rotation was updated Sunday across all competitive formats as Blizzard shifted to a unified hero pool system. These bans will remain in effect until the same time next week with bans being announced on Watchpoint.
The newest hero, Echo, is once again available in competitive play. Since she is still so new as a hero it will be interesting to see how her re-addition will influence competitive play.
Overwatch Hero Rotation: Hero Bans for April 27 - May 4
- Wrecking Ball
Widowmaker and McCree have been banned as a duo three separate times since the hero bans began. Their ban could lead to more players choosing to play Soldier: 76 to deal with Pharah and Echo.
Pharah and Echo still don't have a walk in the park considering that Mercy is unavailable. Her mobility makes her the ideal healer for a flying ally, so maybe Zenyatta will be used to fill in the gap because he can heal at long range.
Banning Wrecking Ball will not dramatically change competitive gameplay because he is not a current staple, but it will limit how much games get dragged in overtime. The lack of Wrecking Ball will also reduce the number of environmental kills in games like this one.
