Blizzard Entertainment is hosting its own homage to the Met Gala, New York City's famous fashion event, with its very own Overwatch League Mei Gala.
The company took to the official Overwatch League Twitter profile to announce the event early on Wednesday, April 21—inviting its followers to "dress to impress." The gala, itself, will feature cosplayers showing off their very best hero outfits in a "cosplay fashion show" according to a pre-determined theme. Fans will be able to tune in and watch the show on Thursday, May 13 at 7 p.m. ET.
Overwatch League Takes on Fashion with First Ever 'Mei Gala'
The League posted an official online invitation on its website providing a bit more information about what to expect. According to the invite page, the Mei Gala will be a virtual red-carpet fashion show" for cosplayers and fans of Overwatch and its competitive counterpart.
The gala will be hosted by none other than Soe Gschwind, a longtime Blizzard fan and prolific Overwatch commentator since 2016. A panel of celebrity judges will be chosen from both Overwatch and fashion communities to rank the entries. If that isn't enough to make fans tune in, the event will also feature several well-known cosplayers the world over.
"The event will be a celebration of all things cosplay, fashion and Overwatch," the invite read.
The fashion theme will be "Our Best Is Us."
The Mei Gala will be broadcast via the official Overwatch League YouTube channel on Thursday, May 13 at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT. Fans can use the invite to add a reminder to their calendar if they wish.
