Overwatch's priority requeue offers some compensation for players who have just experienced being filled into a match that has already started. The August 4 Patch Notes explain that the developers have reworked the way that Overwatch's queuing system works. The game will now give priority to players who have just experienced a "bad" match by being inserted into a game that has already started.

Overwatch Priority Requeue Explained

When you enter a game that has already started, the experience is often sub-optimal. In the most recent set of patch notes, Blizzard announced that players who participate in one of these games will be marked for "priority requeue." This means that the match-making system will prioritize getting these players in a quality game once they requeue. Blizzard expects that this will grant you significantly shorter wait times and more balanced games. You will be able to know if you have been granted priority requeue with a small icon that will appear in the interface.

In addition to the requeue system, Blizzard also announced changes to ranked queue. In ranked queue, players who have achieved the maximum 3900 SR after placements, you can no longer queue in a group of more than two players if any player in the group has surpassed 3900 SR. This change is intended to create a more balanced ranked queue and avoid boosting.
