The Overwatch tank tier list for February 2021 has arrived. Both the competitive scene and the casual scene of Overwatch are being overwhelmed with shield tanks, thanks to the double-shield meta that we have been seeing lately. As such, any hero that has a shield will most likely rank higher than those that do not since dive compositions have not been viable as of late.

It is worth noting that most tanks rely on their healers, and this is a multiplayer game that requires teams to work together towards whatever the objective of the game mode being played is. Many factors determine what makes a hero, particularly a tank, efficient. So this list does not apply to every single scenario, or all players.

With that disclaimer out of the way, here is the Overwatch tank tier list for February 2021.

Overwatch Tank Tier List February 2021

S-tier

1. Sigma

A strong overall hero, Sigma has had high win-rates thanks to his versatility.

Despite receiving a nerf recently, Sigma remains a very strong tank mainly because of the mobility of his barrier. He shines the most in game modes such as "Push the Payload," but his kit is very strong against heroes whose weapons use projectiles. Unlike other shield heroes, part of Sigma's health points are shields that can regenerate when out of combat, so his survivability in the right hands is very high compared to other tanks.

2. Orisa

In the double-shield meta, Orisa is interesting in that her weapon allows her to destroy enemy shields quickly (especially when helped by a Mercy or Baptiste) which is why she is so high on this list. Her shield is also useful, and pairing her with a Reinhardt or Sigma has proven to be a great composition.

3. Zarya

The queen of wombo-combos has a spot in the S-tier because like Sigma, part of her large health pool is composed of shields that regenerate. Her Particle Barrier is a versatile skill that can save the lives of teammates very easily, while also helping her increase her damage output when hit. In this meta, a Zarya with maximum charge can be deadly as not only can she melt through barriers but she can shield herself and allies.

A-tier

4. Wrecking Ball

This is an interesting case, since Wrecking Ball is not a tank that has a barrier ability, but rather can throw other shield-tanks into disarray. With the ability to engage and disengage quickly, a hit-scan weapon that can help get rid of other barriers, and an ultimate that is the nightmare of every immobile anchor tank, the beloved hamster earned his spot this month.

5. Roadhog

Roadhog has an incredible kit for players who enjoy solo queue, but do not wish to rely much on others. His job is to take out flankers, and get advantages in team fights. However, this strategy is useful when the enemy team has a dive composition, and if they have too many barriers (or an Ana) then 'Hog is not as efficient which is why his in this tier and not higher up.

B-tier

6. Reinhardt

While his barrier is the strongest out of all the tanks, his lack of mobility and dependency placed him in the B-tier.

Objectively, Reinhardt has a kit that makes him rely a lot on his team. His barrier is very strong and can last more than Sigma's or Orisa's in the right hands, but this is a hero that has a hammer while almost everyone else has some kind of gun. Because of how much he depends on either a healer or a damage dealer that can take out enemy tanks, Reinhardt is in this tier.

C-tier

7. Winston

Dive compositions are not as viable as before, and while Winston is good at disrupting momentarily, once he jumps he is stuck with the enemy team. Not many characters in the meta can follow-up, the best he can hope for is for a Zarya to shield him, and even then that means that the duo is vulnerable to a Sigma-Orisa combination.

8. D.Va

Similar to Winston, D.Va is not doing well in this meta. Granted, she has a hit-scan weapon that can help, her usual combo when diving is rendered useless by the barriers from most characters that are in the meta like Brigitte, Sigma and Orisa. Her giant hitbox is aiming practice for hit-scan heroes like McCree and Widowmaker, and her circumstantial efficiency places her in the C-tier.
