Overwatch has officially announced the dates for the new Lunar New Year event this week.

The announcement was made via an official tweet published to the game's verified Twitter account on Sunday, Jan. 23. Attached to the tweet was a 15-second clip with a variety of Asian dishes including bao buns and grilled squid alongside a tea tray. The traditional red envelopes—known as hóngbāo (紅包)—were scattered throughout the clip with each one bearing the Overwatch brand symbol. At the very end, players were met with the logo for this limited-time Lunar New Year event: the Year of the Tiger.

Here's what we know about the event.

Overwatch "Year of the Tiger" Event Details

Overwatch's 2022 Lunar New Year limited time event—celebrating the Year of the Tiger—will run from Jan. 25 to Feb. 15.

Unfortunately, Blizzard has yet to reveal any tangible information regarding the challenges and mini-games for the Year of the Tiger. Overwatch tends to bring out the same capture-the-flag-style mode around this time every year so it wouldn't be surprising to see it again, now. The pre-existing maps will likely also be decorated in bright red and gold—two major colors of the holiday signifying luck, good fortune, and prosperity.

Additionally, the Lunar New Year event isn't without its cosmetic rewards. Fans should expect a set of new skins, as well, including legendary and epic items.

Those born under the year of the Tiger are known for their courage and ambition. Tigers are known for their dynamic personalities—able to switch between cool and calm to fiery and daring without hesitation. In general, Tiger years invoke large change, adventure, social progress, and generosity.
