Paper Mario and Metroid leaks suggest the games will reach the Nintendo Switch in 2020, according to industry leaker Sabi.

"Paper Mario going back to how it was, in 2020," Sabi tweeted Friday, suggesting the series will return to its roots as a 2D, turn-based RPG after a brief foray into the third dimension with Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam in 2015.

Nintendo will release a new 2D Metroid game later this year, according to Sabi. The new game will be tied to 2002's Metroid Fusion, released for the Game Boy Advance. The game will be separate from the previously announced Metroid Prime 4.

Sabi achieved notoriety during E3 2019, when they revealed information about each press conference at the convention. They revealed details ahead of Microsoft, Bethesda, Ubisoft and Square Enix's conferences that were borne out by the conferences themselves.

Sabi also received a threat of legal action from Nintendo ahead of the Nintendo Direct that took place the Tuesday after E3. Nintendo's email described Sabi's revelations as a misappropriation of trade secrets.

As with all leaks, it's important to understand this might not happen and nothing has been confirmed. But the leaker has a track record of getting at least some information correct, so it's worth paying attention to them to see how it all plays out.
